RPT
A Registered Piano Technician (RPT) is a member of The Piano Technicians Guild who has demonstrated competence by passing a series of three rigorous examinations on the maintenance, repair and tuning of pianos.
The Piano Technicians Guild
The Piano Technicians Guild (PTG) is a not for profit association of piano technicians with members worldwide. The PTG has two major functions: to provide education for professional piano technicians and to operate an examinations program to qualify technicians as Registered Piano Technicians (RPT). ​
The Piano Technicians Guild has two levels of membership, Associate and Registered. Associate membership is granted upon joining the Guild while becoming a Registered Piano Technician is earned by passing a set of rigorous, standardised examinations. There are three tests: written, technical and tuning. All examinations have a passing grade of 80%. Being a Registered member means adhering to a strict code of ethics and participating in on-going education.
